Dead Ghosts is Vancouver, garage rock, and surf punk, reverberations and melodies. With their latest album Hippie Flippin’, they add a new dimension to their raw sound. This record came out about one year ago, totally unexpected. Out of nowhere the band announced a pre order of the album and put it out on their own label. Accompanying their 2025 European Tour we are honered to present the new pressing of this masterpiece – with changed artwork. The picture that was originally on the inside of the gatefold sleeve is now the outer sleeve, we have the original printed inner sleeve and this time the record is pressed on translucent blue vinyl.
About the album: Dead Ghosts‘ Hippie Flippin‘ is a vibrant evolution of their signature garage-psych sound. This sixth studio album marks a departure from their raw lo-fi roots, embracing a richer, more polished production that still retains their signature grit. The addition of horns and flutes introduces a fresh layer of texture, infusing tracks with a soulful energy reminiscent of ’60s and ’70s psychedelia.
The album opens with „The Man,“ setting the tone with its infectious groove and jangly guitars. „Jimi’s Haze“ follows, offering a laid-back vibe with its mellow instrumentation. „Headed Home“ delivers a driving rhythm, while „Chill Groover“ lives up to its name with a relaxed, yet compelling beat. „Division in Me“ stands out with its introspective lyrics and dynamic arrangement. „Satisfy My Mind“ offers a contemplative mood, leading into „Get Back,“ which brings a burst of energy. „Free & Easy“ continues the upbeat tempo, keeping the momentum lively. „Nice One“ delivers a catchy hook, while „Garden Gnome“ offers a whimsical touch. „Night Fishing“ provides a dreamy interlude, and the album concludes with „Flower Pot,“ leaving a lasting impression with its layered instrumentation and reflective tone.
The album as a whole sounds like a soundtrack to a movie never made. To be honest, if there would ever be a part 2 of „Once a Time in Hollywood“, some of these tracks here would be a perfect addition to well know older classics.
